In honour of the Australian experience of war, and to commemorate the service and sacrifice of men and women across all conflicts, we present a collection of challenge coins and tokens - designed exclusively for the Memorial Shop. 

This challenge coin highlights The Oculus, an architectural feature of the Australian War Memorial's new entrance. From within the building, The Oculus enables visitors to look skyward and see the iconic dome, which sits atop the Hall of Memory; or cast their eyes downwards to read the fifteen qualities displayed by Australians during wartime, which are also echoed with the Hall of Memory beneath Napier Waller's iconic stained-glass windows. 

The coin's obverse is embossed with a stylised design of The Oculus, encircled by the fifteen qualities: "Loyalty | Chivalry | Patriotism | Ancestry | Comradeship | Independence | Curiosity | Devotion | Candour | Resource | Decision | Endurance | Audacity | Control | Coolness" and the words "The Oculus". The reverse features a silhouette of the Australian War Memorial's commemorative area.
