'D' is for Deployment is told through the eyes of a young girl named Ann, whose Dad is away on deployment. The book focuses upon the impact upon children when a parent is deployed, using the acronym DEPLOYMENT to explore the theme.

Created as part of the Early Childhood Defence Programs project, this book is part of a series of research-based storybooks, all designed to increase and support a child's understanding about the work of their parents and how it affect their lives. Topics focus on deployment, health impacts and family life in general.
