In the still calmness of this early morning, the pool of reflection offered an opportunity to reflect on all those who have given their lives in war. The imposing structure of the Hall Of Memory surrounded by the Roll Of Honour added a gravitas to the enormity of what the entire memorial represents.

The Pool of Reflection at the Australian War Memorial and its Eternal Flame serves as a reminder of the service and sacrifice of more than 100,000 Australians who have given their lives in war. It symbolises our nation's perpetual gratitude towards, and remembrance of, our war dead.
