The Hunter Region in The Great War
The Hunter Region in The Great War offers a detailed history of the Hunter region and the community involvement in the First World War. Alongside a treasury of individual stories of the service and sacrifice of men and women from the region, the publication documents the industrial contribution of the Newcastle BHP steelworks which provided coal and steel - "vital ingredients in the nation's war effort" (The Hon. David Hurley, Governor of NSW).
The book also incorporates the history of the Newcastle sub-branch of the RSL, which provides a greater context for the Hunter region's involvement in the First World War.
