The Flanders poppy has been a part of commemorative services since the early 1920s. Synthetic poppies adorn the panels of the Memorial's Roll of Honour where visitors make a personal tribute to the memory of those who have lost their lives in the service of Australia.

Single stems are often used as a lapel pin, token of remembrance at commemorative services, or even fashioned into a wreath.
